In a bold push to boost Goa’s tourism landscape, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced an ambitious plan to transform the iconic Zuari Bridge. Two Eiffel Tower-style observatory towers, each soaring 125 metres high, will be constructed on the bridge offering panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and a truly unique experience for visitors.

Stunning New Addition to Goa’s Skyline

These twin towers will redefine Goa’s image, blending modern infrastructure with cultural and recreational attractions. Each tower will include:

  • Capsule elevators for breathtaking vertical rides
  • Two upper floors with expansive observation decks
  • A revolving restaurant with sea views
  • An art gallery celebrating local and national creativity
  • A café for light meals and refreshments

Strategically located between the bridge’s pylons, these towers will be supported by strong pile cap foundations and connected by pedestrian walkway bridges flanking the marine section.

Built Without Public Funds

What makes this project especially remarkable is that it won’t cost the government a rupee. Developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, a private concessionaire will fund and operate the ₹270 crore project for the next 50 years. In return, the government will receive a share of the revenue generated by the observatory towers and facilities.

Construction Details and Timeline

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is set to kick off the groundbreaking ceremony this Friday. With all necessary clearances in place, the project is scheduled for completion in five years.

Key Design Highlights:

  • Shaft size: 8.5 x 5.5 metres
  • Capsule lifts for scenic ascents
  • Twin upper levels with viewing decks and dining facilities

Easy Access and Ample Parking

To ensure smooth access for tourists, two 7.5-metre-wide carriageway bridges will be built alongside the main bridge. These dedicated access routes will connect to the observatory towers and include generous parking areas for private vehicles and tour buses.

Why This Project Matters for Goa

The Zuari Bridge Sky Towers are more than just a visual landmark—they are a statement of Goa’s evolving identity. The development aims to:

  • Attract high-value tourism
  • Expand Goa’s attractions beyond its famous beaches
  • Support local art, culture, and cuisine
  • Create new revenue opportunities for the state

More Than Just a Viewpoint

This initiative is a bold step toward turning infrastructure into an experience. With elements of luxury, leisure, and culture, the towers will appeal to a wide range of visitors—from sightseers and food lovers to art enthusiasts and photographers.

Future Enhancements to Consider

To enrich the visitor experience, additional ideas that could be integrated include:

  • Cultural experience zones detailing Goa’s heritage
  • Sunset yoga or live music events on the decks
  • Eco-friendly design elements like solar panels
  • Smart visitor services, including AR tours and app-based navigation
