The much-expected Mumbai Coastal Road will partly open its southbound lane, stretching 10.5 kilometers from Worli to Marine Drive, for public use beginning March 11th. This section comprises the impressive undersea tunnel. Motorists can access the road between 8 am and 8 pm.
The inauguration was first planned for February 19th but faced delays due to design changes requested by Worli fishers. While these modifications pushed back the conclusion date of the whole project to May 2025, over 75% of the construction is previously finished.
A noteworthy milestone of the 12,721 crore rupee project, which instigated in November 2018, is the completion of the 2-kilometer twin tunnels. Despite the agenda delay, significant progress is existence complete on this ambitious infrastructure development.
The long-term vision includes a huge 320-acre Central Park along the coast, connecting existing green spaces. The initial opening will provide a 10.5-kilometer route with access points at Worli Seaface, Haji Ali, and the Amarson interchange, and will departure at Marine Lines.
As Mumbai gears up for the opening, drivers are directed to follow posted speed limits due to ongoing construction in other areas. The Coastal Road promises to knowingly improve traffic flow and transform Mumbai's urban landscape.
